Our committees are the heart of the Henry County Chamber of Commerce. 

As a member, you are encouraged to get involved by joining one of our committees. You will find the work to be extremely rewarding. We are proud of our work to be the voice of the business community and making a difference in the quality of life in Henry County.

Chamber Development Division

Vice Chair: Brenda Landers, High Priority Plumbing

Ambassadors/Membership: Brenda Landers, chair, High Priority Plumbing

Positively promotes the Chamber while supporting the membership, staff, and mission; encourages members to participate in programs, activities, and events; and provides assistance at programs and events. Oversees membership recruitment and retention enabling the Chamber to generate sufficient revenues to support needed programs. 

Strategic Communications: Sharon Ponder, chair, Bennett International Group

Develops strategies that enhance membership benefits and communicate the value of Chamber activities and programs.

Elite Roundtable: Christy Chewning, chair, Central Georgia EMC

Launched for Elite Investors, this program provides updates from local business and civic leaders on key issues impacting our business members.

Golf: Gary Sparrow, Henry County Chamber of Commerce

Responsible for the planning, development, organizing, and implementing the Chamber’s annual golf classic.

Emerging Business Leaders: Haley McNeal, lead, Thrive Consulting Firm

Support and encourage future business leaders through community, professional, and personal development opportunities in a peer-to-peer network.

 

Economic & Community Development Division

Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion: Judy McMurtry, chair, JM Excel Consultant, LLC

Works to promote the value and power of diversity, equity, and inclusion in our community to support and develop talent, resources, and business opportunities necessary to elevate minority businesses and employees in an increasingly competitive global marketplace.

Small Business Council: Kena Ceasar, chair, Ameris Bank

Makes an effort to understand the needs of small businesses, the current status of this business community, and ensure the Chamber is focused on the priorities associated with the needs of these businesses.

Women's Leadership Council: Shay Dixon, chair, Scale Logistics

Empowers entrepreneurial and business-minded women from various sectors by providing them with resources, connecting them with mentors, and creating an atmosphere for them to thrive in their careers and personal lives.

 

Government & Education Division

Vice Chair: Thomas Williams, Kaiser Permanente

Education Attainment: Alethia Barnes, retired educator

Cultivates partnerships with Henry County educational institutions to strengthen education attainment and workforce development. 

Government Affairs: Christy Chewning, chair, Central Georgia EMC

Develops partnerships with federal, state, and local government agencies and key elected officials to ensure access to and impact on key business and community issues.

Leadership Henry: Josh Murtha, chair, Josh Murtha Insurance

Seeks to prepare, involve, and sustain leaders from diverse backgrounds who are committed and qualified to address community challenges and improve the quality of life in Henry County.

Youth Leadership Henry: Lyndsay Theado, chair, Strong Rock Christian

A countywide leadership program for high school sophomores, the program is designed to develop leadership potential and to acquaint participants with community needs, problems, and resources through interaction with local leaders and decision makers.
